Apart from being the Deputy CM of AP, Pawan Kalyan also oversees the forestry department. As a result, Pawan now has to address a point that TDP, JSP, and BJP have been raising while they were in opposition: restricting the flow of red sandalwood smuggling in the state.
Accordingly, Pawan has issued his first major order as the forestry minister, directing the police department to immediately apprehend those running the red sandalwood smuggling operations in AP. He has called for an immediate investigation into the illicit transportation of red sandalwood logs.
Recently, Pawan humorously commented that it is all fun and games to see smuggling scenes in films (referring to Pushpa), but such actions are not tolerated in real life. He has now taken decisive steps to curb this issue.
Pawan also recently pointed out that sandalwood logs belonging to Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Mithun Reddy were caught in Nepal, and this file is still on his table. This could be a direct indication that Pawan suspects Peddireddy is behind the operation.
The Deputy CM has called for increased surveillance at the sandalwood dumping yard in Kadapa, as well as an increased number of checkposts to intercept the logs. It is clear that Pawan’s first major order in the forestry department is aimed at nabbing the “Pushpa Rajs” (smugglers) involved with YCP who were part of the trade.
