Telangana government’s order to open schools appears to be receiving a backlash from the parents. The parents, mostly of private school students in Hyderabad said no to sending young children to physical classes until there was a vaccine available for them, according to a survey.
Some of the parents are even fine if they had to drop a year of schooling if the government made physical attendance mandatory. One Hyderabad Schools’ Parents Association (HSPA) conducted a poll and 96 percent of parents said they would not want their kids to go to school this year.
On social media platform Twitter, many parents were seen demanding that vaccines for children and all teaching and non-teaching staff be made prerequisites to convince parents to opt for physical schooling.
While the parents have expressed their concern about sending children to schools, the government is yet to give final guidelines for opening educational institutes in the state from July 1.
