Kalyan Ram’s Amigos was not a super-successful movie, but the concept of three look-alikes meeting with the help of social media and one of them trying to kill others intrigued the audience. In a strange incident, the story of Amigos turned real.
A 23-year-old German-Iraqi woman Sharaban K found a lookalike on Instagram and murdered her with a friend in order to fake her own death. Sharaban is a beautician.
The victim 23-year-old Khadidja O was an Algerian beauty blogger from Heilbronnin the neighboring state of Baden-Wurttemberg. Khadidja was contacted by Sharaban via Instagram using a fake profile and the latter planned to meet her in the name of giving a makeover. Khadidja was hesitant but eventually agreed to meet up.
German police found a body of a woman on August 16 last year in Sharaban’s Mercedes. The woman’s body has more than 50 stab wounds and the victim’s face was ‘badly injured’. The family of Sharaban identified the body but the autopsy found that it belonged to Khadidja. The family initially believed that the body belonged to their daughter because of striking similarities including the brown eyes, long wavy hair, and olive skin.
Sharaban K was tracked down and arrested. She was officially charged with murder and faces life in prison if found guilty of the crime. The ‘Doppelganger murder’ that happened last summer is still a spine-chilling one.
The victim’s mother was recently contacted by the Insider and she believes the German authorities have left her in the dark without information about her daughter’s death. The weapon used in the killing has not been found but the evidence is overwhelming, according to a police spokesperson.
