A United Airlines Boeing 777 heading to Japan faced a tyre mishap during takeoff from San Francisco but managed a safe landing in Los Angeles on March 7.
Video footage captured the moment one of the six tyres on the left-side main landing gear assembly dislodged shortly after departure, landing in a parking lot without causing injuries.
Despite the incident, the plane safely touched down in Los Angeles, where fire engines were on standby. Experts reassured the public that such occurrences are rare and don’t pose broader safety concerns, attributing the mishap to maintenance rather than a manufacturer flaw.
