Air India Flight: Phuket to Delhi Becomes a Nightmare

Flight delays are pretty common in India for many reasons. Especially during winter, flights either get delayed or canceled due to fog or other reasons. Recently, an Air India flight from Phuket to New Delhi left more than a hundred passengers stranded for four days.

Going into the details, Air India Flight AI 377, carrying 142 passengers, was scheduled to depart from Phuket at 5:50 PM (local time) on November 16th. However, the flight was grounded due to technical issues. The next day, the aircraft finally departed Phuket at 8:44 PM but was forced to return after another technical snag. After multiple social media posts went viral about this delay, Air India was forced to issue a statement.

“Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience to passengers of Flight AI 377 operating from Phuket to Delhi on 16 November, which was canceled due to a technical issue. While our staff on the ground made efforts to minimize their inconvenience, providing all on-ground assistance, including hotel accommodations and meals, some guests were also re-accommodated on alternative flights. Passengers were offered options for full refunds and complimentary rescheduling. At Air India, the safety and security of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” read the statement.

The passengers were stranded for over 80 hours, which is extremely unfortunate. Many elderly people and children are on the passenger list. The journey was supposed to get over in five hours but it almost took 80 hours for the passengers to get home.
