A Bengaluru-based woman Hitesha Chandranee accused a Zomato delivery man of assaulting her causing a nose bleed. Zomato immediately responded to the incident, apologizing for the same, and delisted delivery man Kamaraj from the platform.
Based on initial reports, many started supporting the woman Hitesha, but slowly the version of Kamaraj is coming out garnering support from all quarters. The woman alleged that he assaulted her and injured her, but Kamaraj said she is the one who threw slippers at him and used expletives against him while also hitting him. He said at some point in time while safeguarding himself, his left hand touched her right hand and the ring she wore hit her nose and it started bleeding.
Kamaraj rejected the allegations leveled against him saying, ‘let the truth win’. “I don’t want to make it more complicated, let the truth win. If not, I will fight it legally. I have a mother with co-morbid conditions, my father died 15 years back, I am the only breadwinner for my family. I am working in Zomato for the past 26 months with 4.7 ratings. As of now, the company has blocked my ID until this case completes and assured of taking it back once the matter resolves,” Kamaraj said.
On the other side, the Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal issued a statement in the assault case saying they are prodiving all possible support to both the suspect and the victim. While they are covering the medical expenses and helping her with the proceedings. Deepinder Goyal also said they temporarily suspended Kamaraj from active deliveries, but are covering his earnings in the interim while there’s an active police investigation. Zomato is also covering his legal expenses pertaining to the case.
